Why WSMA: The WSMA is a fantastic professional
organization that brings together folks from all specialties. I love that
the WSMA is dedicated to bettering the health of our communities, making
Washington state an amazing place to practice medicine and receive care.
Why serve on WSMA’s Board: I am honored to serve on the
WSMA Board. I initially got involved with organized medicine to learn more
about healthcare policy and advocacy efforts. I’ve stayed involved because
the work is so meaningful and the impact so profound. I’ve been blown away
by the passion and compassion of our communities.
Why should physicians lead: I think that all physicians
are educators and leaders. We have the responsibility and the privilege of
leading our care teams, our public health efforts, and our patients and
their families through complex medical environments.
How do you help further WSMA’s vision to make Washington state the best
place to practice medicine and receive care:
My leadership style is to listen thoughtfully and to seek input from many
sources when making decisions. In particular, I am dedicated to supporting
medical education within our state and am a passionate classroom educator
and medical education policy wonk. It is exciting to be involved in
medical education within our state!
Fun fact about you: My husband and I are from Alaska and
are proud dog parents to three adorable Westies!
