WAMPAC (Washington Medical Political Action Committee) is the nonpartisan
political campaign arm of the WSMA, established to help identify and support
candidates for political office whose priorities align with the house of
medicine. In recent years, more than 95 percent of the candidates we've
supported have won their campaigns, and the relationships we built on the
campaign trail have helped translate to the kind of policy victories that make
a difference for physicians and patients.
The 2022 midterm elections are on the horizon and there’s a lot at stake for
our legislative advocacy. All ten of the state’s congressional seats and more
than 100 state legislative seats are on the ballot in November. Several
prominent legislators have recently announced their retirement, including Rep.
Eileen Cody, the longtime Chair of the House Health Care & Wellness
committee. Our work in the coming election cycle will help shape the health
policy landscape in Olympia in the 2023 session and beyond, but to be
successful, we’ll need to continue to grow WAMPAC’s presence and ensure the
voice of physicians is heard loud and clear by political candidates.
