Understanding the policies that define and guide the Washington State Medical Association.

Policies

The WSMA is governed by four policy documents: WSMA Policy Compendium, WSMA Principles of Medical Ethics, WSMA Bylaws, and WSMA Judicial Council opinions.

If you have questions about WSMA's policy on a particular issue, contact the WSMA policy department at policy@wsma.org.

WSMA Policy Compendium

The WSMA Policy Compendium collects all policy as passed by the WSMA House of Delegates.

WSMA Principles of Medical Ethics

The WSMA Principles of Medical Ethics are the current Principles of Medical Ethics of the American Medical Association. These principles outline the standards of conduct that define the essentials of honorable behavior for the physician.

WSMA Bylaws

Download the WSMA Bylaws, revised March 2024. These bylaws define the association, its governance, and regulation of its affairs.

Opinion and Reports of the Judicial Council

Opinions of the WSMA Judicial Council reflect the association's position on a variety of medical ethical issues. Opinions of the Judicial Council are intended as guidelines to responsible professional behavior.
