Why WSMA: The WSMA is a vital organization for
pediatricians in Washington state. The WSMA advocates for policies that
support the health and well-being of children. This includes advocating
for funding for children’s health programs, working to improve access to
care, and supporting legislation that promotes healthy lifestyles. The
WSMA provides continuing medical education opportunities for
pediatricians. This helps us stay up-to-date on the latest research and
best practices in pediatric care. The WSMA provides resources to
pediatricians, such as information on state regulations, practice
management tools, and patient education materials. Overall, the WSMA is an
essential resource for pediatricians in Washington State. It helps us
provide the best possible care to our patients and advocate for the health
of all children in the state.
Why serve on WSMA’s Board: As a pediatrician, I’m deeply
passionate about the health and well-being of children. Serving on the
WSMA board allows me to advocate for policies and initiatives that
directly benefit children across the state. The WSMA successfully
advocated for legislation to expand access to mental health care for
children.
Why should physicians lead: Physicians can advocate for
policies that promote healthy lifestyles, prevent disease, and improve
access to care. For example, we can advocate for policies that support
childhood vaccination, address childhood obesity, or improve mental health
services for children and adolescents.
How do you help further WSMA’s vision to make Washington state the best
place to practice medicine and receive care:
I work to address healthcare disparities and improve access to care for
all patients, regardless of their background or location. This includes
supporting initiatives that expand telehealth services and increase access
to care in rural and underserved communities.
Fun fact about you: I really enjoy geocaching and hiking
in the woods.
