Youth Sports
The WSMA affirms the importance of physical activity and sport
participation for the health and psychosocial development of children and
adolescents (Res C-7, A-22)
The WSMA supports the formation of a task force or work group charged with
identifying community led strategies to mitigate racial and socioeconomic
barriers to youth sport participation across Washington state. These
strategies may include but are not limited to:

The expansion of public access to recreation spaces through the
development of joint-use arrangements;
- The improvement of transit availability;

The construction and maintenance of community facilities (Res C-7, A-22)
The WSMA supports protections and expansions for equitable school-based
opportunities for physical activity, including but not limited to:

daily recess requirement in elementary and middle schools, and
-
statewide provision of school sport fee waivers for low-income
