Billing

The WSMA opposes legislation or regulation requiring physicians to withhold patient billing until receipt of reimbursement of third-party payers. (EC 7/88) (Reaffirmed A-23)

The WSMA support updating CPT CODE 99459 to include all physical examinations that require chaperones such as but not limited to rectal exams, breast exams, and male genitourinary exams. (Res C-8, A-25)

The WSMA advocate to the AMA for submission of a CPT code change request with the CPT editorial panel for CPT Code 99459 to include all physical examinations that require chaperones such as but not limited to rectal exams, breast exams, pelvic and genitourinary exams regardless of the patient's gender or sex. (Res C-8, A-25)
