Medical Services
A physician should not charge or collect an illegal or excessive fee. Factors to be considered guides in determining the reasonableness of a fee include the following: a) The difficulty and/or uniqueness of the services performed at the time, skill, and experience required; b) The fee customarily charged in the locality for similar physician fees; c) The amount of the charges involved; d) The quality of performance; e) The nature and length of the professional relationship with the patient; and f) The experience, reputation, and ability of the physician in performing the kind of services involved.
