<p>
<strong>Job type:</strong> This is a full-time (35 hours/week) position with flexibility to work both remotely and in our Olympia office. During legislative sessions the lobbyist will work primarily from the Capitol.
</p>
<p>
<strong>Required experience:</strong> Bachelor's degree or equivalent with working knowledge of federal and state policymaking processes, structure, and interrelationships among units of government.
</p>
<p>
<strong>Location:</strong> Olympia, Washington.
</p>
<h2>The job:</h2>
<p>
The Lobbyist will advocate on behalf of the WSMA and will seek to develop partnerships with affiliated physician groups, strengthening the voice of the house of medicine in the state legislature, Congress, and in other forums, including:
</p>
<ul>
<li>Representing WSMA's advocacy interests with legislators, physician groups, allied stakeholders, state agencies, and other organizations.</li>
<li>Engaging in legislative advocacy, including monitoring legislation, meeting with legislators, testifying before committees, and participating in negotiations.</li>
<li>Helping develop and execute WSMA's work on political campaigns.</li>
<li>Maintaining open communication of emerging legislative issues and insights.</li>
</ul>
<h2>You bring:</h2>
<p>
Our ideal candidate will be able to rapidly integrate into the WSMA's advocacy work based on a combination of experience in legislative advocacy, relationships with legislators and stakeholders, and a background in health policy. This position also requires:
</p>
<ul>
<li>Ability to work independently, setting priorities and achieving objectives.</li>
<li>Ability to coordinate and prioritize disparate tasks.</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written skills.</li>
<li>Employing clear, comprehensive, and consistent communication with Director of Government Affairs, to include</li>
<li>coordination and frequent updates.</li>
</ul>
