Legislative Summit
WSMA’s annual Legislative Summit will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025 at the state Capitol building in Olympia.
The Summit gives Washington's
physicians, physician assistants, residents, and medical students an
opportunity to amplify our advocacy message with state legislators. The event is free for WSMA members. Non-member physicians and physician assistants will need to join the WSMA in order to attend. There will be a $30 registration fee for nonmembers who are not physicians or physician assistants.
About the Legislative Summit
The event will include updates from health care policy leaders,
information on WSMA’s legislative agenda, and optional meetings with your
local legislators.
We know your time is valuable: We’ll provide breakfast and lunch,
legislative updates, and we’ll work to schedule optional personal meetings with
your state legislative delegation.
The 2025 legislative session will feature a new governor, attorney general, insurance commissioner, and numerous new state legislators,
including a new House Health Care Committee chair. They’ll all be working
through many bills important to the house of medicine and writing a
two-year state budget.
There’s a lot at stake and we appreciate your interest in joining us in
Olympia to help advocate for WSMA’s 2025 legislative priorities,
including:
- Securing across-the-board Medicaid rate increases.
- Defending against inappropriate scope of practice expansions.
-
Supporting health care workforce by increasing education and training
investments and promoting retention of existing workforce.
