Legislative Summit
The 2024 WSMA Legislative Summit will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at the state Capitol building in Olympia. Registration is open! The event is free for WSMA members.
The Summit gives Washington's physicians, physician assistants, and medical students an opportunity to amplify WSMA’s advocacy message with state legislators.
About the Legislative Summit
The event will feature updates from health care policy leaders, a presentation on WSMA’s legislative agenda, and optional meetings with your district legislators.
We know your time is valuable: We’ll provide breakfast and lunch and handle scheduling your (optional) personal meetings with your state legislative delegation.
The 2024 state legislative session will be considered a “short” session, meaning legislators will have just 60 days to pass bills into law and make tweaks to the state budget. We appreciate your interest in joining us in Olympia to help advocate for WSMA’s legislative priorities (subject to change), including:
- Securing across-the-board Medicaid rate increases.
- Defending against inappropriate scope of practice expansions.
- Supporting health care workforce by increasing pipeline investments and promoting retention of existing workforce.
If you have any questions or are interested in receiving updates on legislative and regulatory activities, email Chelsea Thumberg at chelsea@wsma.org to receive our Outreach and Advocacy Report, sent weekly during the legislative session and biweekly in the interim.
