Changing the Inaccurate Dating Requirements for Fetal Demise
The WSMA advocates revisions to state law to correct medical inaccuracies in the dating requirements for fetal demise and appropriately reflect evidence-based practices. (Res C-1, A-25)
WSMA supports updating the definition of “fetal death” in Revised Code of Washington 70.58A.010(12)(a)(b) to read: “(a) Has completed twenty or more weeks of gestation at the date of death based on the best clinically accurate gestational age; or (b) Weighs three hundred and fifty grams or more, if weeks of gestation are not known”. (Res C-1, A-25)
