2016 ICD-10 Coding Updates

It’s been four years since the last regular annual update to the ICD-10 code sets. The code sets received only limited updates to capture new technologies and diseases. Now that the ICD-10 code set has been implemented, the annual updates will resume, starting Oct. 1, 2016. Currently there are 1,900 new ICD-10-CM codes, 313 deletions and 351 revised codes.

Recently the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services also rolled out a new ICD-10 Assessment and Maintenance Toolkit. In addition to covering the changes, this webinar will also cover:

  • The CMS "Next Steps Toolkit" - ICD-10 key performance indicators
  • Lessons learned since implementation
  • Steps for ongoing coding improvement

Presenter

Michelle M. Lott, CPC, CPMA is the associate director of WSMA Practice Resource Center. Michelle provides guidance and training on CPT and ICD coding issues via the WSMA’s Practice Management Seminars and our Coding Hotline.
