About the opportunity

The associate medical director provides benefit coverage determinations based on medical necessity and contract language for health plan members, including review of clinical documentation using medical policy criteria, guidelines and member contracts. In addition, the associate medical director will provide clinical expertise to company medical policies and initiatives, as well as support the creation, implementation and management of various aspects of the clinical review process, including review of medical appeals.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed physician with an MD or DO degree (unrestricted state licensure or administrative license also acceptable).
  • Five (5) years' clinical experience.
  • Current board certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties, or the American Osteopathic Association or other recognized association.

Kittitas Valley Healthcare (KVH) Orthopedics seeks a full-time orthopedic surgeon to join the team at our progressive orthopedic clinic.

Quick facts about the job:

Range of services - carpal tunnel, hands, knees and shoulder cases as well as minor trauma. Major trauma capability is available. We are currently part of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) cohort data collection for total joints.

Patient volume – KVH Orthopedics saw a total of 663 cases in 2014 and we believe there is a need for our services to exceed these numbers in the future.

Technology – KVH is on a Paragon McKesson system and will be implementing electronic documentation in the operating room within the next year as a major improvement project. Currently the operating room is on paper charting. KVH partners with Stryker and Zimmer for implants and navigation systems. Stryker provides our high definition towers.

Staffing – KVH currently works with three certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA) as well as two full teams within our three suite operating room. Two teams ready to go means our turnover times (wheels out to wheels in) are at 30 minutes.
