At the WSMA, we know patients may have a lot of questions about their care in light of announcements being made by the U.S. Secretary of Health and the President. We urge patients with questions to speak to their physicians before acting on the advice of politicians.

New Social Media Video Series: Navigating Health Information. Restoring Trust.
Misinformation on social media and the increasing politicization of health care policy are adding layers of complexity to health care delivery in the U.S., making the daily work of physicians more challenging and creating confusion and fear among patients.
Case in point: In August, the Trump administration once again created concern and confusion among health care professionals and patients when the president signed an executive order calling for changes to the childhood vaccination schedule that run counter to evidence-based practice. Health leaders in Washington state, including the WSMA, were quick to respond, reminding Washingtonians that Washington’s school vaccine requirements remain unchanged despite the latest federal immunization policy changes.
To help boost trusted, evidence-based health guidance, the WSMA has introduced a new series of social media shorts focused on timely, general health information as part of its Your Care Is at Our Core campaign.
Our first videos cover wildfire smoke safety and measles awareness
The first video, 5 Health Tips During Wildfire Smoke Season, features Bindu Nayak, MD, and was posted to the WSMA’s social media channels in late July as Washington state continues to face heightened wildfire risk and variable air quality in some regions. Our second video, 5 Things Every Washingtonian Should Know About Measles, features Eric Chow, MD, with Public Health – Seattle & King County, and was posted in August as measles cases increase in our states and Washingtonians face higher risks of exposure. The video is particularly timely given the latest news surrounding the president’s executive order. Watch below and share the video on the following platforms: Facebook, LinkedIn, X.

West Coast Health Alliance
In 2025, Washington state, Oregon, California, and Hawaii formed the West Coast Health Alliance to ensure public health recommendations in the four-state region are guided by science, effectiveness, and safety.
