WSMA CME Program Wins Accreditation with Commendation from ACCME

Commendation status recognizes CME programs that address public health priorities, create behavioral change, show leadership, leverage educational technology, and demonstrate the impact of education on healthcare professionals and patients. WSMA’s education touches a broad swath of programming and has demonstrably impacted physician performance with our award-winning Physician Leadership Courses and contributed to improved community outcomes through larger initiatives such as Better Prescribing, Better Treatment and education about POLST and advance directives.

By the numbers

In 2025, the WSMA CME Program delivered 104 educational activities totaling 894.75 instructional hours and 8,261 learner interactions. The WSMA directly provided courses covering opioid prescribing and treatment, clinician wellness, leadership, health equity, artificial intelligence, professional development, and medical officer collaboration. WSMA’s CME is designed to meet physicians where they are, available as podcasts, webinars, leadership courses, conferences, and enduring educational materials.

Special thanks to WSMA CME Program Committee members Alex Hamling, MD, committee chair, Melvin Freeman, MD, Mike McDonnell, MD, Deborah Huang, MD, and Katina Rue, DO, and WSMA staff lead, Kendra Peterson.
