Call for Feedback: Resolutions Now Available in Virtual Reference Committee

Resolutions for member review and comment are now posted in the WSMA Virtual Reference Committee, with more coming soon. This password-protected online discussion forum allows all WSMA members the opportunity to review and provide feedback on resolutions prior to the Annual Meeting of the WSMA House of Delegates in the fall.
WSMA members are encouraged to visit the virtual reference committee to review resolutions and provide testimony in the weeks prior to this year’s meeting, Sept. 26-27, in Spokane. Testimony provided in the virtual reference committee is given equal weight to that of in-person testimony.
How to join and access the virtual reference committee
To ensure these discussions are secure, you must submit a one-time request to join the virtual reference committee then create a dedicated password. To do so:
- Submit a request to join.
- Once access is granted (usually within 24 hours), you will receive an email with a “visit community” link; clicking that link will prompt you to create a unique password.
- Use your new password to log in and join the discussion.
- For further guidance once logged in to the platform, review the “Welcome” post with details on how to post, set your notification preferences, and more.

New in 2026: Preliminary reference committee reports
Starting in 2026, testimony submitted through the virtual reference committee will be used to draft preliminary reference committee reports in advance of the Annual Meeting. The reports will be distributed to delegates ahead of the House and presented as consent calendars during Saturday’s committee sessions. Delegates will retain the ability to extract items from the consent calendar for discussion, debate, and amendment during the in-person reference committee meetings. The preliminary reference committee reports will then be revised and considered by the full House on Sunday with the same opportunities for extraction and deliberation.

Instructions for providing written testimony in the virtual reference committee
To assist the reference committees, use the following format when submitting online testimony:
- Introduce yourself – State your name and your delegation (or other role, if applicable).
- State who you are representing – Indicate whether you are speaking: On your own behalf, or on behalf of your delegation.
- Clearly state your position – Begin your testimony with one of the following: “I support this resolution…” “I oppose this resolution…” “I support this resolution with amendment(s)…”
- Explain your reasoning – Briefly describe the rationale for your position. If proposing amendments, please be as specific as possible and include suggested wording whenever feasible.
Keeping testimony concise and following this format will help the reference committees efficiently review and consider all comments.
