Registration Open for WSMA’s 2026-2027 Medical Student and Resident Advocacy Program

Last year, the WSMA launched a unique opportunity for physicians in training to learn about Washington’s legislative process, issues important to the physician community, and how to be an effective advocate. With over 70 medical students and residents participating in last year’s inaugural class, the WSMA is excited to kick off the 2026-2027 program starting just after this year’s general election in November. Medical students and residents across the state will hear from guest speakers and WSMA’s government affairs and policy team on a number of issues, ranging from political campaigns, how to get involved in the WSMA’s House of Delegates, the legislative process, and more. The program is comprised of five evening virtual sessions and an in-person advocacy day in Olympia, an opportunity to meet legislators, network with peers, and directly engage in advocacy. The program is free for medical students and residents, and upon completion, participants are awarded a certificate to include in their CV.
