As the health care industry and medical practice evolves, so, too, do WSMA’s efforts to ensure our members’ professional development. The WSMA is pleased to announce more additions to its growing list of podcasts, many of which offer continuing education credit.

Unless otherwise indicated, WSMA-produced podcasts are available on the WSMA website and via WSMA Podcasts, the official WSMA podcast channel on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

The Physician and Practitioner Wellness Podcast

Available to all physicians and practitioners. CME available.

The Physician and Practitioner Wellness Podcast provides resources on topics such as creating a culture of wellness, creating effective teams, and drawing on evidence-based work on wellness. Podcast topics are identified as critical for physicians, practitioners, and their health care organizations to commit to prioritizing wellness and aligning their efforts to reduce burnout and improve professional satisfaction. Each episode is moderated by a member of the WSMA and WSMA Foundation Wellness Committee.

The podcast is free and open to all practitioner types. You’ll find podcast episodes on our podcast channel, WSMA Podcasts, available through Apple Podcasts and Spotify or in our Physician and Practitioner Wellness web section.

Better Prescribing, Better Treatment Podcast with Nathan Schlicher, MD, JD

Nathan Schlicher, MD, JD, is your host for the WSMA Better Prescribing, Better Treatment Podcast. Each episode features conversations with guest physician leaders from across specialties and systems on how we reduce the dependence on opioids for pain management where appropriate, help those suffering with chronic conditions safely, and help those with addiction.

Health Equity in Medicine Podcast with Edwin Lindo, JD

Free member benefit meets state requirement for health equity CME.

The WSMA has collaborated with Edwin Lindo, JD, to produce engaging health equity education that fulfills the Washington state requirement of two hours in health equity continuing education at least once every four years.

In this four-part audio miniseries, Lindo covers the history of racism in medicine and the impacts of the medical profession on health equity. He shares how some of your colleagues have tackled these thorny issues, structurally and individually, and gives you ideas on how to incorporate equity principles into practice.
