Part I: Evidence-Based Strategies to Increase Adult Vaccination
Washington State Health Officer Tao Kwan-Gett, MD, discusses why greater measles vaccine coverage in adults is urgently needed in Washington state, and strategies that health professionals and organizations can implement to increase uptake of the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine and other immunizations.
About the presenter: Tao Kwan-Gett, MD serves as the state health officer, providing the Washington State Department of Health with key science, health, and medical expertise to provide public health recommendations and to promote the health, safety, and well-being of all Washingtonians. Dr. Kwan-Gett practiced pediatrics in Seattle for over 12 years with an emphasis on behavioral health, and previously served as medical epidemiologist at Public Health – Seattle & King County and as a faculty member at the University of Washington School of Public Health.

Part II: A New Era of Measles in the U.S. and Preventing Sustained Measles Transmission in Washington
The United States is seeing increased measles infections, with impacts rippling through Washington State. Dr. Chow will describe recent trends, outbreak patterns, and key clinical presentations and considerations for patient management. Dr. Chow will discuss the benefits of vaccination and provide guidance about reducing community-level transmission.
