2026 WSMA Legislative Report

The 2026 WSMA Legislative Report provides an overview of policy outcomes on behalf of the house of medicine from the 2025 Washington State legislative session, which concluded on March 12.

Top policy highlights from this year’s report include bills that:

  • Ensure access to vaccines
  • Reform prior authorization
  • Require insurance carriers to pay claims in a timely fashion

In the budget space, the WSMA successfully advocated for priority funding items to maintain the state’s Apple Health Expansion immigrant coverage program, promote insurance affordability through subsidies for plans on the Washington Health Benefit Exchange, and fully fund Foundational Public Health Services.

Also included in this year’s report is the WAMPAC Legislator Report Card. Keep the report card handy when filling out your ballot during this year’s mid-term elections—and use it to guide conversations with your legislators.
