Is Fair Reimbursement a Mirage?
Delayed or denied payment, downcoding, clawbacks, inappropriate use of prior authorizations … to keep down spiraling health care costs, health insurers are increasingly turning to payment strategies that have a direct impact on physicians’ bottom line and patient access to care. For our July/August cover feature, health care writer Rita Colorito reports on the frustrations experienced by Washington’s physician and health care communities as they devote resources to chasing down fair payment for services delivered, and the steps the WSMA and its partners are taking to push back against carriers’ unfair billing practices and advocate on behalf of the physician community.
