The WSMA advocates to ensure that patients in Washington state with a history of substance use disorder who require a post-acute medical care setting can continue their medical treatment of substance use disorder in a post-acute and long-term care setting. (Res B-15, A-23)
The WSMA advocates with the AMA and local and state governments to remove barriers to opioid agonist therapy (including methadone, buprenorphine, or other appropriate treatments) at skilled nursing facilities. (Res B-15, A-23)
The WSMA supports coverage by insurance including Medicare and Medicaid for substance use disorder and opioid use disorder treatment in skilled nursing facilities. (Res B-15, A-23)
