The Washington State Medical Association declares that gas for cooking
represents a health hazard and that gas for water and home heating
represent long-term public health risks due to climate impacts. (C-8,
A-21)
The WSMA promotes policies at the state, county, and municipal levels that
would phase out gas infrastructure in new construction, financially assist
in the replacement of existing infrastructure with electric heating and
cooking appliances, and upgrade local electric power grids to make all
electric heating and cooking feasible and equitably available for all
Washington residents. (C-8, A-21)
