20181213_manager_association_management_department20181213 Manager, Association Management DepartmentCareer CenterShared_Content/Career_Center/20181213_manager_association_management_department<div class="col-md-12"> <!-- div class="col-md-5 pull-right"><img alt="" src="/images/Logos/CMC%20Logo%20-%20vertical.jpg" class="pull-right" /></div --> <h5>December 13, 2018</h5> <h2>Manager, Association Management Department</h2> <p> The manager of the Association Management Department is responsible for providing overall leadership to all societies being managed by the WSMA, including supervising all staff in the department and serving as executive director for contracted societies as needed. </p> <p> <strong>Responsibilities:</strong> Specific responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: </p> <ul> <li>Overall management of the association management department including supervising and mentoring staff, and providing back up to association executives in the event of scheduling conflict or illness.</li> <li>Providing executive director services to state, regional or national specialty societies when necessary based on staffing levels and the number of contracted societies, including:</li> <ul> <li>Assisting society leadership with developing budgets to support key objectives and fulfill the mission of each association;</li> <li>Working with education chairs and speakers to coordinate continuing medical education activities in compliance with established accreditation criteria;</li> <li>Planning and coordinating association meetings;</li> <li>Developing board meeting agendas, support materials, and minutes of board meetings;</li> <li>Providing staff leadership to support association committees;</li> <li>Membership recruitment and retention;</li> <li>Managing publication of newsletters, including writing and editing;</li> <li>Acting as the liaison between national and state or regional associations;</li> <li>Coordinating some legislative activities; and</li> <li>Traveling to state or national meetings.</li> </ul> <li>Work collaboratively with WSMA staff in utilizing necessary WSMA resources to carry out the department's goals and objectives.</li> </ul> <p> <strong>Qualifications: </strong>The ideal candidate will enjoy a fast-paced and varied work environment, plus have a minimum of five years related experience, preferably with association experience in a health related specialty. Bachelors degree preferred. Must have a high level of professionalism, the ability to communicate effectively with Board and volunteer committee members, strong marketing skills to promote membership and educational activities, and be committed to providing a high level of member support at all levels. Advocacy experience helpful. Experience supervising and mentoring employees preferred. Requires some local and out-of-state travel and occasional evening and weekend meetings. </p> <p> <strong>Interested Candidates:</strong> The position is full-time (35 hours/week) in downtown Seattle.
