As a member of the Washington State Department of Health executive team, the chief science officer provides the voice of science and medicine in policy conversations and on all matters pertaining to the health and safety of Washington state residents. </p> <p> The chief science officer supports the secretary of health in serving as the state's primary medical expert and a spokesperson on public health issues. This position is responsible for reviewing the latest medical and scientific knowledge, making policy recommendations, and helping set the strategic direction for the agency, as well as the public health system, on critical public health topics. </p> <p> Applicants from historically marginalized groups and those who have a language proficiency other than English are encouraged to apply. </p> <p> Applicant requirements include: </p> <ul> <li>Doctor of Medicine from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy in the U.S. or an equivalent degree from a foreign medical institution.</li> <li>Completion of three years of medical residency program/patient care training with preference given to preventive medicine or primary care-related training programs. We are a well-established center serving the greater Seattle community since 1995 conducting clinical trials. You will join a robust team of three board-certified physicians, four research fellows, ten master's level clinicians and research coordinators, along with a full complement of support staff. </p> <p> This position has attractive career opportunities within the organization to take on the role of a medical sub-investigator and progress to taking on the role of a principal investigator or associate medical director. </p> <h3>Job duties:</h3> <p> As a medical sub-investigator, you will use your medical expertise to assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of all study participants, as well as the proper conduct of clinical trials. Your primary duties will involve administering physicals, reviewing of all study participant data (including medical history, lab work, x-rays, electrocardiograms, and physicals throughout all phases of the study process). You will also interact with internal operations teams and sponsor companies/clinical research organizations to address safety and protocol concerns. </p> <h3>Job requirements:</h3> <p> Our ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with our clinical research team. Candidates will handle multiple priorities, have excellent organizational skills, and possess the ability to problem solve to a successful outcome. </p> To be considered, candidates must meet the following criteria: <ul> <li>Must be U.S. Board Certified.</li> <li>Must be licensed in the state of Washington or ability to obtain a Washington state license.</li> <li>Must hold an unencumbered Drug Enforcement Administration license.</li> </ul> <h3>Compensation and benefits: </h3> <p> Benefits include competitive compensation determined on experience, attractive bonus package, robust 401K, and medical/dental/vision insurance.
