WAMPAC (Washington Medical Political Action Committee) is the nonpartisan political campaign arm of the WSMA, established to help identify and support candidates for political office whose priorities align with the house of medicine. In recent years, more than 95 percent of the candidates we've supported have won their campaigns, and the relationships we built on the campaign trail have helped
translate to the kind of policy victories that make a difference for physicians and patients.
The WSMA works on the federal level with AMPAC, the AMA's political action committee. AMPAC supports medicine-friendly candidates across the country who are seeking election to the U.S. Congress.
Your contribution—large or small—will help WAMPAC stay relevant and give us the resources we need to advocate on your behalf.
It might surprise you to know where our PAC stands compared to other entities in Olympia. Trial attorneys and the nurses' union each raise about five times the amount raised by our PAC. Hospitals and dentists easily raise double the size of our PAC. We need more financial clout to guarantee that our message is heard and to ensure that our team is able to strengthen the profession and improve patient care throughout Washington state.
As a physician or health care leader who cares about advocacy, would you donate today? Please consider becoming a Diamond Club member at the gold level of $1,000, silver at $500 or for a limited time only, bronze at $100. This special membership rate (typically costs $250) will be available for the duration of the election cycle. As a bonus, membership includes free admission to the WAMPAC Reception, a virtual event on Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. featuring Gov. Jay Inslee, and a WSMA swag bag (face mask and hand sanitizer) – a $50 value. Make a donation today.
Want to know how your state legislators supported the house of medicine before you decide whether to support them? WAMPAC can help.
One of the many ways WAMPAC brings value to WSMA members is providing details on your legislators' track record on issues important to you and your patients. Each year, WAMPAC publishes a "report card" showing how legislators voted on WSMA's priority bills, included as part of the yearly WSMA Legislative Report mailed to all members at the conclusion of the state legislative session.
Download the WAMPAC Legislator Report Card (for the full Legislative Report, visit our Legislative & Regulatory page)
If you have questions about the report card or other issues related to elections, contact Sean Graham at firstname.lastname@example.org
WAMPAC comprises physician and physician assistant members of the
WSMA. WSMA membership dues includes $25 for WAMPAC (members who
do not wish to contribute to WAMPAC can allocate their $25 to the
WSMA Foundation for Health Care Improvement or to the WSMA).
