How to follow the action at the Capitol.

How to Watch Legislative Committee Hearings and Floor Debates

While not everyone can make the journey to the Capitol to witness the legislative process in action (and is not an option for 2022, as the Legislature continues to operate largely in a virtual format), you can tune into TVW, Washington's public affairs network, for 24/7 coverage of state House and Senate committee hearings, floor debate, and bill signings. If you can't watch in real time, you can always access content in the TVW archives. TVW is widely considered the state-level equivalent of C-SPAN!

Locate committee schedules and agendas

  • Visit the state Legislature’s homepage (consider bookmarking this page for easy access!).
  • Review the menu options on the left-hand side and click on "Legislative Committees."
  • Select your desired committee under the House Committees or Senate Committees tabs. Both chambers have similar committees, but often are working on different issues at any given time.
  • Once you have reached the homepage for your desired committee, click the link for "Committee Schedule, Agendas, and Documents."
  • From here you may use the filter feature to locate a specific meeting or to see when the next meeting is scheduled by changing the date range.
  • Now you will be able to review committee agendas and other documents (agency presentations, bill reports, proposed amendments, etc.) and view any archived committee footage.

Watch committee hearings and floor debate

  • Visit the TVW homepage. You can watch TVW via cable, Roku, the mobile app, and more, so choose the option most convenient for you!
  • While there are several ways to access live committee hearings and floor debate, the fastest way is by clicking "Schedule" in the upper righthand corner of TVW's homepage. This is another good webpage to bookmark.
    • If the committee hearing or floor debate is occurring on the same day you are searching, it will be posted here under its respective start time.
    • Alternatively, you may use the "Recent Archive" feature to pull up committee hearings and floor debate saved in the archives.
